Swedish fire candle

Perfect for a night in the garden or for a family camp.

Originally used by the Swedish army during the Thirty years' War in the 17th century.  Swedish soldiers needed a way to use their firewood efficiently, while still maintaining a source of light, warmth, and heat for cooking.  They are still used to this day for exactly the same purpose.

Swedish Candles are really popular due to their simplicity. Just one log is needed to create an impressive fire that stays lit for hours.  Provided with a carry handle and pre fueled with our natural fire lighters, all you need is a match.

The long vertical cuts in the log means that when lit, the embers of the fire fall back inside the log to keep it burning. These cuts also provide ventilation which keeps the fire burning and allows it to burn from the inside out. Once lit, Swedish candles require very little, if any, maintenance and being a single log, it is a very self-contained and controlled burn. So you can sit back and relax to the warmth and crackle of an open fire.  A lit candle is also a great midge repellent!

Swedish candles are also an efficient method for open fire cooking. As with any other application, ensure that the candle is placed on a flat and stable area of ground and its naturally flat surface allows you to easily boil or fry foods on top without the pan sliding or falling over. As the flames are raised off of the ground, the fire can be lit even when the ground is wet, too.

Our candles last for hours.  Obviously the vary in size but the average is 50cm tall by 30cm diameter.
